The mission of the Art Committee is to fill the church building with work by local artists, each exhibit on display for two months, and offering the public an opportunity to buy from the work on display. A percentage of each sale goes to the Church. The chair is Joy Wallens -Penford who keeps an eye on the local art scene and contacts potential exhibitors, writes up publicity for the shows, and arranges for an opening reception.
New members of the committee are always welcome as their assistance is needed with hanging and displaying the art, working on the receptions both as hosts and in providing refreshments.
The annual Members and Friends show offers the artists and crafts people in the congregation, and their friends a change to display and sell their work. In the past this has included paintings, drawings, prints, and calligraphy as well as items from the realm of fiber arts: knit, quilted, designed and sewn, felted, and painted on fabric. Others work in pottery, wood, sculpture, and collage. Poems and books published by members are also welcome.
The group meets mainly to work on exhibits and receptions and Joy can be contacted through the Church Office.
