The mission of the Membership Committee is to greet members and friends and to help them become comfortable with the Church Community. This ranges from welcoming them to Sunday services, providing refreshments after the service, sponsoring social events such as circle dinners (and lunches), shepherding through the process of becoming a member, and keeping the membership rolls in good order.
In service of that mission the groups meets monthly, usually on the first Thursday, late in the afternoon under the chairing of Kathy Squires, It is through their work that folks are provided with name tags, the directory of members is kept up to date, and those who wish to become part of our congregation can make contact with others. The committee is constantly on the look out for ways to increase the feeling of friendliness and welcome, and is always looking for others to join in that ministry. Those who wish to join the committee or to volunteer for greeting on Sundays or hosting events would contact Kathy.
Members are individuals who have made a commitment to support the church in a variety of ways from attending services as they can, to pledging financial support (no matter what size), participating in the congregation by attending decision making meetings (as voting members), and who have signed the membership book.
Friends of All Souls are welcome and often very active members of our Church Family. The benefits of full membership not extended to them are the privilege of voting and serving in the governing of the church and access to the “Members” section of the church website.
The Membership Committee has absorbed the functions of the former Remembrance Committee by acknowledging memorial donations and maintaining the Remembrance Book of deceased members and friends. This book is housed in the Parlor and available for anyone to review. We also oversee the Christmas Eve luminaria by providing supplies, accepting order forms, and creating the event’s list of donors.
The current Membership Committee members are Kathy Squires, chair, Christina Gibbons, Heidrun Mayer, Judy Ingison, Lois Reynolds, Barbara Woods, and Linda Hay.
