Doug Frantz: Details…50 Years of Photography & Mobiles
Details – Fifty Years of Photography and Mobiles by Doug Frantz will be on view at the All Souls Church in the West Village Meeting House from September 7 through October 29. The public is invited to an opening reception on Saturday, September 7, from 2 – 5 pm. There will also be an artist’s talk, with accompanying digital “slides,” on Thursday, October 3, at 7 pm.
Frantz received a B.A. from Kalamazoo College, and since then has been learning what he knows about photography and mobiles from the larger school of life. He has taught photographic workshops in Guilford and Stowe, and has exhibited his work in Vermont, Massachusetts, New York, and Michigan. First published in 1976, and most recently in 2023, he has been honored to have his work represented in an exhibit, and subsequent book, titled “In Spite of Everything, Yes,” which also includes work by renowned photographers Henri Cartier-Bresson, Eliot Porter, Dorothea Lange, and Paul Caponigro, among others.
