Board decisions about Covid-19

As we work on moving forward safely, here is our current status:

1) We will install another bathroom,

2 )We are in Phase 1, no more than four people in the building, and

3) We are planning virtual services instead of in-person gatherings through May 2021, per the UUA recommendations.

Here are the details:

On July 13, 2020 the Board of Trustees of All Souls Church approved the following recommendations received from the ReOpening Task Force:

1) Bathroom: Approved moving forward on construction of the bathroom.
Recommendation: Given that any plan for reopening of All Souls Church, whether partial or full, will depend upon adequate facilities for hygiene, the Reopening Task Force recommends that construction of the proposed additional restroombegin as soon as possible.

2) Phase I – All Souls Church Reopening – Phase 1 Summary: Approved Phase I recommendations.
Recommendation: Phase 1 includes a statement of the Scope and Purpose of the Task Force, and some background information.
  • It formalizes the situation presently in practice at ASC:  no more than four people inside the building, six people outside, with protocols for safety.
  • Signage is already present outside the building to clarify these limits and the attendant protocols.
  • Hand sanitizer is in place; additional supplies have been ordered, and received.
  • Toilet seat lids have already been installed on all the toilets in the building.

3) Time Frame: Approved adopting this time frame in our planning process.

Recommendation: The Reopening Task Force notes that, in a letter dated May 14, 2020, the President of the UUA, the Rev. Dr. Susan Frederick Gray, states the following: “Based on advice from experts, we continue to recommend that congregations not gather in person. We also recommend that congregations begin planning for virtual operations for the next year (through May 2021).”  The Reopening Task Force recommends that ASC adopt this time frame in our own planning, and that we share that intention with the congregation in the next E-news and newsletter, with a link to Susan’s letter.
