Green Action
Mission: All Souls Social & Environmental Action seeks to provide “encouragement for putting our beliefs and values into action and service” as called for by our Church Mission Statement. We are a spiritual community of seekers engaging UU principles for the good of all.
ASC Social and Environmental Action arranges for a number of worship services each year which touch on environmental issues. We also work to keep our sanctuary and our congregational choices “green.” This includes choosing to make green choices in our daily lives in support of environmental causes.
Examples of these type of services include one presented by our former Pastor, Shayna Appel, who traveled to Standing Rock to act as a chaplain for those who were calling for protection of the waters of the Missouri. In another service, a speaker from 350.org, herself a Unitarian, spoke on the spiritual side of environmental activism. Other services called on us to express our gratitude for the many gifts of nature.
Members of SEAC have also joined a number of local and country wide demonstrations in support of clean energy and against expanding the use of fossil fuel.
