All Souls Church at The West Village Meetinghouse
Weekly E-News
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 17 – WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER  23, 2020
NOTES FROM THE OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR AND WEB TECHNICIANS :

As we continue in the Covid world, and continue using zoom longer than we might have anticipated, we need to make sure that the zoom calendar and the church calendar are in sync.

We ask each committee to please check the church calendar for the next SIX months and see if it accurately reflects your regular meeting plans.

We will update the church calendar as needed, and then we will update the zoom calendar to match. After reviewing the calendar if you have changes or extensions please send an email to the church office

ATTENTION!: SUNDAY SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENTS!
Since it is difficult for worship leaders to catch those visual hand raises in our little “talking heads” boxes on Zoom, if you have an announcement you want included at our Sunday worship services, please send it to me here in the office ahead of time so I can get it to the ASC Board member making announcements at the beginning of our services. Thank you.

“OFFICE” ADMINISTRATION HOURS:
Tuesday through Friday – 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM
I will be in the physical office on Wednesday mornings. Please be advised that, except for emergency situations, if I receive calls or emails after hours on any given day, I will respond at the start of the next work day. Thank you for your understanding of and cooperation with these changes as we continue to navigate our way through this unprecedented time.
Sincerely,
Beverly

Come to ASC’s Holiday Celebration! The festivities are online this year—and promise to be fun! Expect music and entertainment for all ages.

Orion Barber will read a cautionary tale, by Ogden Nash, about a boy who doubted Santa Claus.
Rev. Telos will read a Christmas story about the magic of believing good things with all one’s heart.
We’ll sing carols, of course!
Don your festive finery—holiday sweaters, party hats, flashing jewelry—or surprise us!
Don’t forget to serve your own favorite foods and beverages as you prepare to join us.
This celebration is organized by the Stewardship Team, with hopes of bringing light and laughter to our congregation. A fitting theme for stewardship this year is “Staying Connected.” And what better way to gather virtually than with stories and fun befitting the season?
If you would like to offer some entertainment, contact Catie Berg or email Christina Gibbons or Leslie Kinney. Soon!
Come one, come all to a fun-filled, feel-good evening!

“The Turning of the Solstice Wheel”
Winter Solstice; the moment when the Sun “stands still” and the Wheel of Life changes its course of increasing darkness to one of increasing light. That exact moment of stillness calls for attention. Stillness can be calm and comforting and, in our service today, we will look at a vision of stillness that also enables us to gather strength and clarify our perceptions. Our service will include a Solstice ritual.

FROM GEORGE CARVILL
While All Souls Church has been doing zoom services now for many months, there are still a few members of the congregation who, for one reason or another, have been unable to join us on Sunday mornings. We would like to see if there’s anything we can do to help members who cannot come to our virtual services. If you are unable to join us Sunday mornings please contact George Carvill to discuss your situation. He can be reached at 802-490-2052. If you know someone who is not receiving this information via internet e-news, and would benefit from it, please pass it on to them verbally. Thank you.

FROM THE CARING CIRCLE
Ann Newsmith has been transferred to Grace Cottage Hospital for further treatment and rehab, and she has only wonderful things to say about the care she is receiving there. This good news has been possible because it appears the IV antibiotic she is receiving is indeed keeping the infection under control. She has been able to visit with husband Norm through the window, and is being kept busy with OT and other treatments. While not certain, it appears now that she will be there until after the holidays. Cards can be sent c/o Grace Cottage Hospital,185 Grafton Rd, Townshend 05353, or email to Ann here

FROM LINDA HAY
Face masks which attach over the arms of your eyeglasses, an incredible innovation!
Masksbyjaz is an Etsy shop owned by Jasmine Sanford in Reading, England. The all cotton masks come in five sizes from small child to XL adult. You have a choice of many patterns and colors and they are reversible and washable. Jax takes credit cards and the shipping on my first order was very efficient (by mail).
As there is nothing on or over your ears, they are great if you wear hearing aids. I just ordered 3 more at 11.99 each and the total shipping is $7.05 Because they are fitted around your chin and at the top of your nose they keep your glasses from fogging up. Without elastic around your ears they are also very comfortable, and there is nothing to catch on hearing aids. The colder the air gets the more I appreciate this clever design
Call me if you have questions about wearing them.

PHYSICAL DISTANCING IS STILL HAPPENING BUT SACRED SOLIDARITY CONTINUES!

To keep us together, All Souls Church is using the on-line program, Zoom, to conduct church services and some committee meetings. You can get all the details on the church webpage under this “Virtual Services” link: https://ascvt.org/virtual-services/ where you will find instructions, links to church events, and a continuously evolving list of information. If you are having trouble hearing or being heard at our online meetings or services, here is the link to a video that can help with this issue. https://youtu.be/nN_9_GWMb7M

You can find out what’s happening and how to stay involved by checking the church calendar, Look for the word “CALENDAR” in red at the top of the webpage under the “Click here to donate” button. Each calendar event listing for all ASC meetings now contains a secure link to that particular Zoom meeting. You can also submit an event request for the calendar using the link at the top of the calendar page,

If you have any questions about an event on the calendar, you can reach out to the person listed in the event, or the church office, or the web support team,
