The members and friends of All Souls Church may have left the building, but we have not left the church!
We may be feeling disconnected, wounded even. Most of us are staying at home and avoiding social contact. Others of us are going to work to do essential jobs and trying to say a safe distance from co-workers and clients, maybe even wearing masks.
It is said there is a balm in Gilead to make the wounded whole. This is Gilead and we ARE the balm!
So let’s gather virtually at 7 p.m. Thursday. We’ll check in with each other, find out how things are going in this brave new world.
No program, really. But you may want to bring a candle to light.

Here is the poem by Jan Richardson that was read at Vespers on April 2:
Blessing for a Broken Vessel
Do not despair.
You hold the memory
of what it was
to be whole.
It lives deep
in your bones.
It abides
in your heart
that has been torn
and mended
a hundred times.
It persists
in your lungs
that know the mystery
of what it means
to be full,
to be empty,
to be full again.
I am not asking you
to give up your grip
on the shards you clasp
so close to you
but to wonder
what it would be like
for those jagged edges
to meet each other
in some new pattern
that you have never imagined,
that you have never dared
to dream.
