ASC Reopening Task Force – Notes from Meeting June 26, 2020

TO DO’s: posted at the top so they are visible

All: mark calendars for next meeting, 4:00 Thursday July 2nd .

Collaborate on getting recommendations for Phase 1 to the board soon, certainly before their July 13 meeting. Recommendations should cover gatherings such as one to say goodbye to Shayna, to be further discussed at next meeting.

Steve & Peter:  purchase and install 3 toilet seats so all in the building will have lids, with signs recommending they be closed prior to flushing.  ( Recommended by CDC and UUA to control aerosol plume. )

George: Update Reopening Task Force web page to include link to relevant recommendations from State of Vermont, and possibly the more useful Church Mutual links.

Update Re-Opening Plan document to re-arrange Phase 1 to be where we are now with a few next stages. Phase 2 to cover gatherings of more than 10 people.

Make sure hand sanitizer is available inside the major building entrances. with some sort of signage.

Jamie: Agreed to dig into the Church Mutual site to see what can be gleaned that is helpful or useful.

Attendees: George Carvill, Peter Gibbons, Jamie Gibson, Leslie Kinney, Steve Squires

The recommendation to proceed building a second bathroom in the foyer has been submitted to board. Since pre-pandemic planning had not yet reached the serious bid stage, expect at least 6 months. May need to revive Capital Needs committee, suspended since the shutdown.

Steve inquired about installing hands-free hand sanitizer units, at the various entrances to the building (similar to what Hannafords and the CoOp have). This was regarded as unnecessary. George will stop by the church and ensure that ordinary pump-top bottles be available inside entrances, with signs drawing attention and encouraging their use.

Peter notes that the sanitizer itself need not be fancy or expensive, so long as it is at least 70% alcohol (isopropyl).

Steve noted that the library in Newfane has experienced that very few people actually read the extensive signage on pandemic-related rules and warnings. Signs need to be both simple and friendly to be effective, or even noticed.

We will need a supply of masks at the church, most likely free to take home for people who need them. Ordinary home-made cloth masks work well enough. No specific action taken, but we know who the mask makers are.
