We dedicate children to All Souls Church in West Brattleboro in a ceremony that contain some elements similar to a baptism. We ask the congregation to dedicate itself to the infant or child while asking the child’s parents to do the same.

A child dedication is a covenant between parents and their congregation. The parents promise to raise their children attending to their spiritual and religious needs. The congregation promises to provide a place of learning, support, and spirituality to the children and their parents.

In a simple ceremony during a Sunday worship service, children will be dedicated to All Souls Church with a few simple words from our minister.  Because we believe a person’s religious beliefs are something they must choose, children  are dedicated to the church until such time as they formulate their own beliefs in a credo statement. At that point, they have their own agency as participants in the congregation.
